What is a doula?

A doula is a non-medical birth support worker. A doula provides constant support for the birthing mother and her family during her pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. During pregnancy, doulas provide support through education, birth planning, and labor preparation. During labor, doulas provide constant physical, mental, informational, and emotional support by guiding the mother through mental coping strategies, assisting the mother in advocating for her birth preferences, and practicing natural pain management techniques such as massage, counter-pressure, and optimized positioning, to name a few.

Miriam Malonson

Hey! I'm Miriam, a certified birth doula, mom, and wife! I completed my doula certification with the International Doula Institute. I attended my first birth five years ago and my life has never been the same since. I met my doula partner Abbie while working at New Birth Company. We found that we not only work well together, but that we are equally passionate about birth work. Due to my own late term pregnancy loss, and one beautiful full term pregnancy, I am blessed to be able to fiercely and lovingly support, educate, and advocate for pregnant mothers and their families. I look forward to working with you and your family as you prepare and create your sacred birth space.

Abbie Roush

Hi! I'm Abbie, a Child and Family Development Educator and a Birth Doula. I attended both Benedictine college and University of Central Missouri and studied my doula training through DONA. I previously worked at New Birth Company as their Prenatal Midwifery Assistant for 3 years and there my passion and desire to educate and serve mothers throughout their pregnancy and birth soared. With my own experiences with several miscarriages and 2 miracle full term pregnancies, I craved to educate and protect the sacredness of childbirth for other moms in the community. I am so excited to serve you and make a sacred space for your birth!

Birth Doula Services

$1300

Includes 2-4 prenatal visits for education, labor prep, and birth planning, 24/7 on-call availability upon signing contract, labor and birth attendance, and at least 1 postpartum follow-up.

*If your labor lasts longer than 12 hours, your doulas will switch out to ensure that you are receiving the best support possible.
